There are a few ‘good PR things’ you need to do first before you can position yourself well for media-take-up.

Ok, Rhonda, so you know the power of publicity and you want to sprinkle some of that media coverage magic dust on your business. Ya?

You’re ready for publicity pursuits; you’ve got some business runs on the board and important news to share with the world. Ok, we hear you.

Let’s assume you already have beautiful branding, a slick and sophisticated website, and compelling copywriting to pad it all out. Not to mention it’s a pre-requisite that your product or service is memorable for all the right reasons.

There are however a few ‘good PR things’ you need to do first before you can position yourself well for media-take-up. Let’s put it this way, you’re PRability will be shaped by your ability to get these things in tip-top-shape first.

You’re clear on values
Clear values help you communicate clearly across all channels and as a result attract like-minded folk. This is good PR.

You’ve developed a WHY statement
The WHY becomes a north star for everything you do in and around your business. This is what builds brands. This is your service to others and the cause beyond making money. This is good PR.

You’ve executed a bio copy audit
When all your bio descriptors line up; you help to create a repeatable story. This is good PR.

You’ve developed key messaging
Key messages anchor all communication across a business inwardly and outwardly. Key messages give communication at every level clarity, meaning and control.

You’ve started telling your stories on social media
This helps to build reputation, credibility, expectation for what you’re about and community. This is good PR.

You’re publishing value-driven blogs (or vlogs) that are (giving back)
This helps to position you/your brand as an industry leader. This is good PR.
