The world’s first ever pay-it-forward coffee movement Make A Stranger’s Day landed in Melbourne, involving some of the city’s most trendy cafés to be a part of a unique week-long charity event centred around fun, connection and kindness. The idea? To make your morning coffee more than a morning ritual. Visit one of the participating cafés, buy yourself a coffee, donate $5 towards someone else’s and then a stranger who goes to pay for their own is given a friendly ‘with complements’ surprise. On top of that, $1 from each coffee given to a stranger goes to the cafés selected charity, with the likes of Beyond Blue, Lort Smith and the Alannah and Madeleine Foundation on board.
Founder Peter Lynagh created the idea after a pivotal moment where he spontaneously bought a coffee for a down-and-out stranger who couldn’t afford it – and it made their day. Not only that, it brought a palpable happiness to both him and everyone else in the café who saw it. That’s the feeling he wishes to bring to communities everywhere, starting in Melbourne and hopefully one day the world.
raraPR was brought on board to generate essential publicity for upcoming event including copywriting, media list development and media outreach, securing interviews with key food, lifestyle and news media across radio, online and social.
